Social events
A vital part of our conference is the time given to networking. For many, this is one of the main reasons for attending. There is plenty of time during breaks, over lunch, and at the end of the conference day to get together with old friends and colleagues and of course, to meet new people.
On Monday, the first of the drinks receptions takes place to welcome delegates to the conference.
After the day's presentations on Tuesday, there will be a drinks reception sponsored by Osmond Group Ltd. This will be followed by a team Quiz Night. This is a major event in the conference programme and an evening not to be missed. Ok, we always say that, but wait...this isn't just your ordinary pub quiz, this involves pitting your wits against some of the sharpest minds in ergonomics. But don't worry, we don't ask questions on ergonomics, we test your knowledge on films, music, places, people and much more. And there's always a 'special' round where we ask the teams to do something that tests their ingenuity, cunning, and practical skills. Competition is fierce to say the least, and past quizzes have seen people being dressed as mummies, designing tall buildings out of paper, and dropping eggs without breaking them. If you thought that ergonomists were always serious minded professionals, think again!
On Wednesday evening, there will be a drinks reception in Keele Hall followed by the Institute's Annual Dinner, a very special event in the Institute's calendar, where the dress code is lounge suits (or dinner jackets) and cocktail dresses.
These are photos from previous conferences. You can see all the pictures from last year's event in an online gallery.
